Sao Paulo, Brazil, August 6th, 2016 English Major, one of Black Opal Stud´s star colts, joined the elite group of thoroughbreds to be named Champion of the Year for the best 2 year old colt and received the Troféu Mossoró 2016.


Trips to the podium are becoming a way of life for Black Opal´s colt, English Major. At a ceremony that took place at the ABCPCC quarters in Sao Paulo, last Saturday, August 6 th at 12:30 pm, the thoroughbred swept away the Champion 2 year old honors, and was chosen as the leader of the 2013 generation of Brazil.


After receiving the award, Eduardo Schuch, Chairman of Black Opal said, "This is truly an honor. We are extremely happy and privileged to be receiving this award and would like to thank Mr. Solanes and his team for their great work, as well as Mr. Souza, who rode beautifully during this season. This is definitely a day I will remember".


This highly successful, 487 kg, dark bay colt is the son of the great PUT IT BACK and ROMANY QUEEN. He was bred by Haras Sta. Maria de Araras, trained by R. Solanes and guided by jockey A.M. Souza.


English Major has had a terrific season, by masterfully winning the Grande Premio de Herzberg (GII) on May 15 th , 2016 and the Grande Premio Jockey Club Brasilero (GI) at the Jockey Club of Rio de Janeiro on June 12 th , 2016
